The Silent Thief of Sight –
Why Regular Eye Check-Ups Matter
Often referred to as the “silent thief of eyesight,” glaucoma is most commonly seen after the age of 40. At EYE-ONE, as a standard protocol, every patient—regardless of their eye concerns—is screened for eye pressure and glaucoma.
Just as people sometimes discover they have diabetes or hypertension during a routine hospital visit, glaucoma is another condition that often goes unnoticed. It usually has no symptoms in the early stages and can only be detected through an eye test.
The unfortunate part is that there is no treatment to reverse the damage caused by glaucoma. However, its progression can be controlled by managing eye pressure through regular check-ups. Just like BP medications, glaucoma eye drops must be used consistently to keep eye pressure under control.
At EYE-ONE, Dr. Shiwali S, our glaucoma consultant, has extensive experience and has worked alongside leading experts in the field. For diagnosis and periodic monitoring of glaucoma, Dr. Shiwali is available every day from 10 AM to 2 PM, except on Fridays and Sundays.
